So when it comes to my birthday or Christmas or any other time when I’m asked what I would like as a gift, I freeze. Simply because since I started bringing in my own income, I would buy whatever I needed…..and whatever I thought I needed, leaving me completely clueless as to what to “ask for” or “want” for Christmas.
Now when it boils down to it, I couldn’t care less about receiving gifts to be honest. I’ve always been the person who wants to give and give and give. Even just small things, I’m always spoiling family members, especially my three little nieces.
Here’s a list of a few things I’ve accumulated of what I would like and again, I say that very lightly, and easy and thoughtful gift ideas that you can run with!!
So when it comes to clothing, I’m all about the oversized over-shirts – flannels, denim, cardigans and sweaters. This goes for all seasons too, even living here in Texas. I don’t know what I would do without my over-shirts as they’re almost a comfort blanket for me, definitely a staple piece to my wardrobe and something I’m always appreciative of!

As far as accessories and jewelry go, I feel like it’s such an easy gift to give. Because someone went out and picked a piece that made them think of you. At least that’s what I do, so I hope that when I’ve been given jewelry as a gift, the same thought process went into it! Some of my favorite jewelers are Alex and Ani and James Avery because you can pick out such a personalized piece or even relate it to a memory or experience you shared with that person and what better gift to give, honestly.
I’d have to say my favorites from each place would be charms from James Avery and Alex and Ani’s bangle bracelets! I’m always pairing the two together and have got quiet the collection going! Not to mention, Alex and Ani have recently collaborated with Harry Potter and have a killer collection!
There’s been SUCH a huge bandwagon of the poetry style books, or as I like to call it, “tumblr inspired.” And I’ve definitely been one to give in a buy a few of them myself. I love them because they make you think and for someone like myself, it helps me be more creative in my writing! Authors like Rupi Kaur, Courtney Peppernell and Madisen Kuhn to name a few, all write these beautiful poems that just draw you in and leave you wanting more!
Another style of book that has becoming very popular are self-help books! And quite frankly, I see absolutely nothing wrong in reading them, even when you think you have it all figured out. There’s so many different styles too, as far as becoming successful, learning to love yourself, dealing with depression or anxiety. Because let’s be real….who wouldn’t want to receive a book called “You are a badass” or “14,000 things to be happy about.”
And last, but certainly not least for myself, are Nicholas Sparks books. The inner teen within me will forever love a good Nicholas Sparks book! Just the right amount of romance and drama for myself!
I wanted to save this category for last, mainly because I didn’t know how long it was going to become or if I’d even include it on this list because of that reason. So let’s just dive into it:
Lush – a gift card, a few bath bombs, a bath bomb and a bubble bar or a gift box. Truthfully, any Lush combination would make a great gift!
My favorite bath bomb is the Avobath because not only does it wake you up (perfect for a morning bath or when you need a pick me up), BUT it’s so citrusy and it makes your bath water the prettiest shade of teal. And even though it doesn’t have glitter or any other fun colors incorporated into it, it’s one of the best! Don’t knock it til you try it! You’ll thank me later.
My favorite mask is the Mask Of Magnaminty. Not only does it feel incredible on the skin after a long day but I swear this mask clears up whatever imperfections I’ve collected over the past week or that pesky one that pops up over night. My skin is bright and so soft after I wash it off. This is always a repurchase for me, always something I must have just in case!
And my last Lush go to item is the Rub Rub Rub shower scrub! I’m not even sure where to begin with this item because it’s so wonderful, but let me just say that this scrub has become one of my summer essentials. It’s what I use to exfoliate my skin before shaving, what I use when I notice my skin is looking dull or dry, it gets rid of those pesky bumps you get on your arms! I could go on and on. Holy grail, for sure.
Ulta – again with another gift card to make the perfect gift because what girl doesn’t love a one stop shop? I know I do! As for someone who has worked there, it’s the perfect place to get a gift for anyone on your list. With everything from fragrance, to eyeshadow palettes, all of the holiday gift sets they bring in from Black Friday – Christmas, you’re sure to find the right gift!
And if you’re completely stumped on what to give someone – gift cards with a personal note attached to make it more meaningful!
